Coming Soon - A photo slide show

You're all probably sick and tired of all my posts from this past camping trip, but I promise, this next one will be the last. As you know, I'm an amateur photographer (still life, nature is my forte - I really don't do people) and I love to share my photos with people so I'm working on a slide show similar to the one posted below, only this time instead of a voice-over, I'll be putting together a song in GarageBand to underscore my pics. Anyway, I'll catch you all later!

Josh's Video Blogs From Camp - Episode 6

This is the last video blog from my camping trip to Cape Disappointment State Park! Come on out to North Jetty and the Wikkiki Day Use Beach.

And this is a picture of me scowling at a 7-foot-tall weed...

Josh's Video Blogs From Camp - Episode 5

Warning - this one is long... about 14 minutes long. But it really is good. Seth, we'll eventually do one for you this long, if you're up for it. In this Blog I'm reading through the story of Joseph and how he dealt with his bitterness and was able to work through that, give it to God and was able to forgive his brothers for what they did to him years before. You can find his story in the book of Genesis Chapters 37-45. The need to let go of bitterness and to forgive have been weighing on my heart for a while. So now you don't have to watch this, it's all written right here, but if you would like more detail, just click on the play button.

Josh's Video Blogs From Camp - Episode 4

Episode 4 from camp takes you hiking along the Coastal Loop trail with me and Jeremy.

Josh's Video Blogs From Camp - Episode 3

Episode three takes you, my readers/viewers on a hike up the North Head Lighthouse trail. It's a moderately difficult hike that's about two miles long. Music for this blog was composed in GarageBand by me. Enjoy!

Josh's Video Blogs From Camp - Episode 2

So, on the first day I didn't get my video camera out to blog on the Cape Disappointment Light House trail or the Mackenzie Head trail (which was actually the next morning, but that's okay) so here's a small slide-show to provide you with a glimpse of where I was.

Mt Hamilton

(Lets get the stupid stuff out of the way here first.) The Mt Hamilton trail is located inside Beacon Rock State Park. The trail head is just North of the day-use parking area. At four miles, this is a good beginner/intermediate trail to accomplish. Hardy Falls/Rodney Falls offers a nice place to relax and cool down - it offers a chance to get your feet wet in Hardy Creek, if you wish. The hike to the top of the mountain is mostly uphill. Above the bridge over Hardy Creek is where the trail splits into two options for climbing the mountain. The so-labeled "Difficult" route is the one you want to avoid. It ends up looping onto an access road/equestrian trail for most of the journey up the North side of the mountain. Instead, be adventurous and try the "More Difficult" trail up the West side. This route offers more scenic views of the Columbia River Gorge. (Heck, it offers views period - the other trail really doesn't. At all.) Time range for hiking: 2-4 hours.

So I conquered this trail today with my friend (or "friend" as some of you call her) Dianna. This was her first "real" hike ever, and I must say, I'm impressed. She made it all the way to the top and back without complaining. She drank all of her water and half of mine (thank you so much... just kidding). I got a couple of pictures of the Gorge, coming soon. I don't have my USB cable for my camera right now, otherwise I would post them RIGHT HERE!

Oh, and for weather in the summer time - it was perfect for the hike today. Couldn't have asked for a better day.

Go check out for the latest video blogs from our Wy'East Campus. And about that - why do they (at main campus) still insist on calling us "Fisher's Landing" when we're really in the heart of Cascade Park? I don't know - maybe you could vote on my poll here...

Washington Man - the unofficial intro

I really do love my mac...

Okay, so today I was just trying to clean out my video file on my mac and accidently deleted the entire thing. Now, that's not my mac's fault - it's mine. It just did what I told it to. So it's behaving, my fingers aren't. So I tried to just repair the install, and it ended up erasing and setting up a whole new install on my hard drive. That's probably a good thing due to the fact that I've been doing a ton of video and audio recording/editing lately and my hard drive was so fragmented that it was slowing down... But oh well. I will say this - the setup process is so much easier on the mac as opposed to the PC. It's so easy that if you've never set up a computer before or anything, you could do it and really not mess anything up at all... it's great!

Now I've got to go reinstall iWork, Office X and TechTool Deluxe (apple care protection plan)! and I've got everything working again too... my iChat, I did back up all my iTunes music last night, so that's good, and most of my videos are safe on my external HDD as well. The only ones I lost were the intro to the GIA and the Video Blog 3 for the Fisher's Landing Living Hope Blog site. Luckily I've still got the Video Blog material available on tape, so I can go through and re-do it, but unfortunately, I tapped over the GIA material (I think). Time to find out!

What a weekend...

Hello all...

Yes, I'm trying to blog more consistently now that I have a cool blog site here on blogger.

So sleep has been a precious commodity on short supply starting Fri night/Sat morning. I worked a closing shift on Friday night and "had" to get up at 4 to go Sturgeon fishing the 'next' morning - it was actually just later in the morning since I hit the sack at 3 AM and took a little one hour nap before fishing. We didn't catch any keepers on Saturday, but we did pull in a 30" fish that we promptly released. The great part is we were out there until about 12:30 PM. So I went home and, again, took a small nap (2 and a half hours) before my closing shift on Sat night. I was joking with my manager that she'd need to keep waking me up for falling asleep on the job - my customers made sure I didn't as I sold over $1,000 last night at work. For those of you who don't or haven't worked in restaurants, that's CRAZY BUSY for one night. Again, I got home at about 1:30, 2 AM and got to bed at 3 so I could get up at 6 for church...

Church was awesome this week. Rick Bosch, talking about the issue of greed, and how deceiving it is, did an amazing job on his message. Now, I'm sitting here at 10:30 PM on Sunday night after running two services at the Living Hope Church Wy'East location and then going to a BBQ at my friend Dianna's house, followed by a late dinner at Rose's (which is awesome) and a stroll through Lacamas Park.

Isn't the power of coffee just a wonderful thing?

La Bottega

Okay, so Erik did his first concert review and it went well. I'm going to attempt my own restaurant review here. On Monday I was in downtown Vancouver with Micah (see spirit well books - video interview coming soon) and we walked past La Bottega, a small Deli type place. So today I decided that I'd go down there and check it out. I'm glad I did. All food is made to order...

I don't remember exactly what the name of the sausage was, but it was awesome! It's off the lunch menu (maybe this wasn't such a good idea - oh well, it's like story time with Erik...). the sausage tasted like pepperoni almost - very good and came out grilled and presented very simply with some marinara sauce poured over the top of the sausage. On the side came a spinach and dandelion salad tossed in a warm vinaigrette dressing and some sort of starch. I have no clue what it was, but it reminded of a mix between mashed potatoes and coos-coos... very tasty.

Salads, sandwiches (there are sandwiches you can choose from or build your own), soups, and pasta's are available as well. Deserts, and for those of you interested, a huge selection of wines to choose from. there is indoor seating as well as a small patio section (tried to sit there, but it was full). Overall I'd rate my experience there an 8 out of 10. (with a 10 being an experience comparable to the one I had at my favorite restaurant ever - Special Thai - when I met the owners, good people, excellent friends)

So, the Wy'East Campus of Living Hope Church is going to have a 3 on 3 basketball tournament later this summer, here's a small video/commercial to get you all excited!

Wy'East LifeGroup Tour '07 - Week 1

beating the heat

Yes, summertime is truly upon us. With our unofficial high of 104 today, I'm glad we've got an a/c unit here at home and a pool out in the backyard! So what do you folks do to beat the heat?

Jesus Saves

So today I was on my way to the Mall and merging onto the highway when this small car, smaller than mine comes racing up beside me. Now, normally, this is just fine on the highway - I really could care less. But not this time. This time is when his lane is about to end and merge in with mine. Now I could tell you that I did the nice thing and just let this guy in because I witnessed him driving up behind me recklessly... but no. I believe that I did have the right-of-way, not to mention that he had a "mile" behind me in which he could have merged into my lane - there was no traffic there. This guy just HAD to get in front of me - after his little lane had ENDED(!) and continue on his merry way. Well, I wasn't about to courteously let this guy in. Now here's the 2nd most stupid part. All the time he was beside me and coming around me - the driver didn't even acknowledge that my vehicles exists. So I hit the brakes and of course honked the horn as this guy was about to take out my front, right fender as he had reached the choice of stop and merge behind me, drive through the guard rail, or physically push me out of his ever-so-important way.

Now comes the sad part. After honking and letting this inconsiderate driver get in front of me, he waves to me like I did him a favor, like I'm being a nice guy for letting him in... and, here we go, on his back window, posted in large letter so NO ONE would mistake what was written were the words, "Jesus Saves." Now I love Jesus. Really. I'm a person, and I make mistakes. I'm sorry for being jerk toOh, and here's a pic of me... this guy, but I'm pretty sure that he has no issues with cutting me off... and the fact that "Jesus Saves" is posted, I'm assuming he's a "Christian," makes me mad.

Like the pastor of Living Hope Church is always saying, "If you're going to drive like that, please don't put the "ONLY GOD" sticker on your car." I'd like to say the same thing to that guy... He NEEDS to hear it.

Oh, and here's a pic of me...
